We enjoyed the bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dipping. The server, Laurie, was attentive, informative, helpful, and easy to talk to. pretty with nice attention to detail, and the warm glow of candles made the space even more inviting. The restaurant decor was comfortable, casual, and classy - very. My first impressions included a welcoming and efficient hostess who pleasantly and promptly seated us. My husband and I had a great time here for dinner on a Friday night, arriving at about 5:30 PM. They serve breakfast too, which must be especially nice as they are close to the ocean and the neighborhood is lively with dog-walkers, joggers and other healthy sorts. But another found the eggplant parmesan absolutely delicious and we deemed the evening a success. I was looking forward to their wood-fired pizza and was disappointed that it was the flimsy type where when you lift up a slice all the toppings slide off. They have a comfortable outdoor section along one side of the building, and a big tent outside too, which we suspect went up during the pandemic and will be temporary. They were very accommodating in moving us downstairs, which was quite crowded (noisy!) but at least warm. Although we made our reservation for upstairs, it was very cold & windy that night. 264 Fresco was close to their hotel and looked very attractive, especially the upstairs terrace with fire pit. PAON is very elegant high end French Restaurant in Carlsbad Village, with opulent Old Hollywood vibe and gorgeous outdoor garden seating.
